Posting kids online - what are your thoughts?
Hello loves, been a fan of you both for a long long time! Pre-Covid my kids and I would listen to old radio shows of Em and Harley and we were stoked when Emsolation came about and we got to meet Michael! Em, what’s your philosophy on posting your children (specifically when under age) on social media? As a fellow ND mum of ND kids (and a big age gap!) I love seeing your kids and your parenting online. I feel so much solidarity, and seeing these videos and hearing your stories validates my own experiences which is such a gift! Lately I have started to question posting my own kids online for a range of reasons like safety, personal autonomy, privacy, etc. They’re both gender queer and I feel like sharing about them might not be in their best interests. Just wondering if you could share your own thoughts around this as it feels like a bit of a grey area and I’d love some different perspectives. Em, your posts about your kids are so great for people like me but how to you feel about your kids (especially Elio) having a public face? Michael, as a “child-adjacent” and thoughtful person, I’d appreciate your thoughts too. Understand if you don’t want to talk about this because I know it could bring criticism so protect yourself if you need. I’m certainly not here to judge, but to learn and ponder and make my own decisions and keep reevaluating those as I learn and ponder even more! Love you guys, keep up the awesome podding!
Next generation of female/afab comedians
I've noticed that the next gen female/afab comedians are (seeming to be) more widely included and accepted in the 'scene' including having guest spots on TGYH & HYBPA. For example Michelle Brasier & others her age. Can you speak to whether you've noticed a cultural change that means these people are being included and supported where this didn't happen for you? Is it true this next gen are truly part of 'the in club' or is it an illusion?
ND Early Years Parenting
How have you coped with the overstimulation of the first 0-6 years of parenting (eg. the playing, the bed time support, the relentlessness). Particularly with ND kids being ND yourself. I have a 3.5 year old and struggle with playing so much lately & feel like we have to be going to the park, playgroup, adventures all the time so I can be the best parent I can be. But then I'm so tired too! Would love some wise words from a more experienced ND parent.
